ABOUT
Recognized for her “quicksilver passagework” and “tender lyricism” (The Washington Post), yet not afraid to shout or swing her foot onto the piano if the music demands it, pianist Francesca Hurst is at ease with classical and contemporary music, and has a special interest in music by women. She has performed in the US and abroad, and has been a guest artist at many new music festivals, including the Atlantic Music Festival, where she premiered over 50 works in six weeks with the Contemporary Ensemble. During the pandemic, she created the 100-day online series Daily Dose of Piano, featuring music from the Baroque to today, including 14 premieres. Francesca is on the Performing Artist Touring Roster of the Virginia Commission for the Arts. She is on the piano faculty at The Catholic University of America and the University of Virginia, is an MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, and teaches for MusicLink Foundation. She holds a DMA in Piano Performance.
